Join Daniel Fraser or Philip Cornwel-Smith for an unforgettable tour of Bangkok by land and water. During this full-day encounter for the whole family, television host Daniel Fraser or renowned author and editor, Philip Cornwel-Smith, will be your guides. Fraser is the host of the Thai TV culture and food programme Long Krung (lost in the city) and has contributed to various television, film, and documentary productions in Southeast Asia. Cornwel-Smith is the founding editor of Bangkok Metro, the editor/author of Time Out Bangkok, has written the bestseller Very Thai: Everyday Popular Culture, and appears on ABC’s Foreign Correspondent. A day of family adventure begins with a drive from the hotel to a river pier. A private boat will travel past ships in Bangkok's port to the forested peninsula of Bang Kra Jao. From here, cycle through the wooded lanes to a botanical park and along elevated paths through plantations to visit enchanting sights. On weekends, guests can tour the floating market, snacking on specialty foods. Then, drive passed a mythic shrine--where devotees make offerings of snakes--to Bang Kradee, a picturesque canal-side village of the Mon people. A community leader will show guests around several houses that maintain traditional crafts and welcome you to a home-cooked authentic Mon lunch along the canal. The experience can end here or continue with a short drive to Bangkok's sparkling coastline. Stroll or cycle along boardwalks through the mangrove forests and learn about mangrove preservation from a local campaigner. Visit a temple that gets flooded at high tide and witness the coast eroding the land by taking a boat out to a city marker where you will dine on local seafood at a restaurant on stilts standing in the sea.
THB 60,000 for two people per night in a Grand Deluxe Room includes transportation during the experience as well as airport transfers, full-day tour hosted by Thai guide concierge as well as distinguished host Philip Cornwel-Smith or Daniel Fraser, local lunch, and snacks.
